The Weather Keeps Me In.
The weather is insane here. Its like a slushy without the cherry goodness. I just got off the phone with my parents and they told me they were making my soup recipe (which is actually Karen’s soup recipe). So I went to my freezer and got out my stored soup and I’m heating it up as I type. Feels like I’m home with the fam. What I’d really like right now are some steamed...
State of the Union.
“And despite all our divisions and disagreements, our hesitations and our fears, America prevailed because we chose to move forward as one nation, as one people.” -President Obama
Chili is done
The chili cook off at church is over!! I survived but barely!! We had 27 entries which is about 10 more than I thought would be there. I was blown away by how much support the youth had and how excited everyone was to participate. There was so much chili I was shocked!
The youth had a great time, I had a great time, everyone was laughing and joking and the competition was heated. I will admit...
Glee
You know what’s amazing about the Glee Soundtrack? It defines my life right now.
MLK
“Nonviolence is the answer to the crucial political and moral questions of our time: the need for [humanity] to overcome oppression and violence without resorting to oppression and violence. [Humanity] must evolve for all human conflict a method which rejects revenge, aggression and retaliation. The foundation of such a method is love.” -Martin Luther King Jr
I realize MLK Jr. Day...
Lectionary
This week’s lectionary text from Luke really spoke to me this morning.
He stood up to read, 17and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written: 18‘The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the...
CF Awareness
Today Facebook is having Cystic Fibrosis Awareness day. If you love some that suffers from CF paste this to your status. Waiting for the day CF stands for Cure Found. Every Breath Counts.
All the love and support in my heart goes out to my dear dear friend Lindsey. I have known her since 7th Grade Health Class and she is the bravest, strongest person I’ve ever met.
CF is a serious illness...
In Prayer for Haiti
Today while praying with my lectionary group (a group of PCUSA pastors that get together once a week to discuss the text they’re preaching that Sunday) Todd said something wonderful about Haiti. He said that if it is the material things in life that separate us from God then surely there is nothing between Haiti and God today. While this isn’t a good thing it is an eye opening...
I'm Quirky 3
I’m a pacer. If you call me on the phone I pace around while I talk to you. Unless I’m driving. Talking on the phone while driving is weird because I can’t pace. This has nothing to do with you or anything we’re talking about I just like to pace. It’s how I collect my thoughts.
Here I Am
Worship was amazing this morning. There’s nothing more to say other than I am so happy and so thrilled to be doing what I’m doing.
Snow Day
Yesterday was supposed to be a snow day but only a few flakes scattered from the sky. Today school is canceled and allegedly we’ve seen the last of the snow yet it continues to come down slowly. I have no idea how to drive in snow so I haven’t ventured out. Quite frankly I’m a little scared. However, I’m also bored. I have plenty of work to do and I got a lot accomplished...
London Calling
After much anxiety on my last trip I have decided to take to the skies again in March. The Youth and younger kids have two weeks of Spring Break and I will be taking that opportunity to go back overseas. Last night I watched the last two episodes of SATC when Carrie is in Paris and I felt my heart leap. I want to be there so bad I can feel it in my toes. I haven’t booked my ticket yet but...
An Island?
kuwaitaminute:
My new Filipino friend from earlier gave me some additional advice….
He suggested that I travel to the Philippines where I can buy my own island for about $10,000. I order to do that, though, I need to marry a Filipino girl…. He said that it’s no big deal, I just marry her, buy my island and put her on it. Then, basically, as he said, I’ll have, “an island and a mistress”...

Shopping Failure
Well friends today I failed at not buying clothes. Alas I do have a good reason but I still bought a pair of pants (regularly $70 on sale for $34) and a dress also on super sale. Please forgive me as punishment I am adding 2 weeks to my sentence thus keeping from the sale racks until after Easter. I promise to be good until then. This was a special case: I buy my work clothes at The Limited but...
I'm Quirky 2
I prefer to watch TV in marathon form. Favorites include: Law & Order SVU, CSI, SATC, and all those 100 Greatest Rock Moments shows on VH1. This form of TV watching pays off during times of Trivial Pursuit.
Happy Note: today I head to Nashville for a meeting. I’m on a new committee for the Presbytery and I’m really excited about it. Ok ok I’m really excited about shopping in...
Not Pastoral on Purpose
I’ve watched two movies in the last few days that I had no idea were going to be as pastoral as they were. I wanted to watch a nice romantic movie so I picked “Love Happens” with Jennifer Aniston and Aaron Eckhart. I had no idea how great it was going to be pastorally. It’s a movie about a man who is a motivational speaker helping people deal with their grief after losing a...
I'm Quirky 1
I never run out of spaghetti noodles. If I don’t have regular spaghetti that’s ok I have angel hair or fettuccine or some other kind of pasta that will work with sauce. I cannot remember a time when I did not BOGO on noodles at Publix. So anytime you want pasta, it’s right here.
Just realized....
While life may have its ups and downs. The music lives on. Much love to the Rolling Stones.
